Laughter is the Best Medicine

Quoting from Anne of the Island, I typed "humor is the spiciest condiment in the feast of existence" as a response to my friend's status update on facebook. (Yes, de fezbuk!)

To explain it more, it means that laughing at our mistakes, troubles, and difficulties, but learning and getting strength from them.

She in no time replied, "but it is a form of denial."

Oh, is it so? Does that follow that since everyone seems to laugh at our troubles at one point or another, we all are denying some facts of life? (Mga denial king and queen? - may kilala akong ganito, actually).

Perhaps it is. When you laugh at yourself for committing a mistake, you deny yourself of the feeling of humiliation. When you find humor in things other may deem horrible, you deny yourself of fright and anxiety. And that denial goes on and on as long as you live.

Denial it maybe is! Laughter is a form of denial without which life can be difficult to bear. It serves as an oasis for most of us. You don't necessarily need to stay there forever, but it gives you a temporary sanctuary - a resting place - to rejuvenate and be ready to face the challenges of the desert again.

When all's been said and done...

... it's what you learned from your Home Economic class that you'll put into good use when time calls for it!

The Filipino community in Khon Kaen, Thailand celebrated the 144th Philippine Independence Day last June 9.
